Cost of Surgery

Our mission at Riverside Surgical and Weight Loss Center is to make weight loss surgery affordable to anyone who needs it.

Lap Band

If your insurance company denies you or you choose to pay yourself the cost of the Lap Band may be as low as $12,500. This is includes the surgery, a same day stay in the hospital, the surgical assistant fee, the anesthesia fee and 6 months of band adjustments in the our office. If your adjustment cannot be done in the office there will be an additional $100 charge because it has to be performed under fluoroscopy at the hospital. You should be able to go home the same day of your LAGB surgery, however if you need to stay then there will be an additional $1000.00 charge.  We will do your first band adjustment 3 weeks following the surgery. 

Many private insurance companies provide coverage for the gastric lap band surgery. Some require a 6 month physician supervised weight loss program prior to approving your surgery. Our office will provide 6 months of consecutive monthly physician visits that address the insurance required issues so that your surgery can be approved.

Lap Sleeve

Similarly if you want the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, the self pay price is as low as 12,500. This total includes the following: surgeon's fee, anesthesia, psychology consult, nutrition consult, one overnight stay and the hospital fee. If you need to stay a second night in the hospital for the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, this is an additional 1000.00 charge plus whatever additional tests (ie: chest x-ray etc) and procedures that may be needed.

Insurance companies are starting to cover the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. This is very encouraging since the published data demonstrating the efficacy both in long term weight loss and reduction in comorbidties is overwhelming. We have completed this surgery on a number of patients that had the surgery as a covered benefit. If your surgery is initially denied we will appeal it for you.

Conversion Bariatric Surgery

If you already have a laparoscopic adjustable gastric band and would like it converted to a laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy we are happy to help you through this process. The surgery itself is more complicated to perform than a first time laparoscopic adjustable gastric band or laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, therefore it does cost slightly more. Working with Sebastian River Medical Center, our practice has established a very competitive price for patients paying for this conversion surgery. Similarly, if you have already had a gastric bypass and desire a laparoscopic adjustable gastric band be placed on your pouch, the surgery is more involved and takes longer to do than a first time bariatric procedure, therefore the self pay price is more than a first time bariatric procedure. We do offer patients a very competitive self pay price for "band over bypass". Call Rebecca or Marisel for the actual pricing.

Like all self pay bariatric surgeries, 6 months of follow up visits with Dr. Domkowski are included. Follow us visits after this interval are usually between $50 and $75 depending on the type of surgery you had.

We require all patients desiring any type of conversion surgery to see our bariatric nutritionist prior to undergoing conversion surgery. This is to ensure familiarity with our pre- and postoperative dietary requirements. There is no additional charge for this visit.

Financing

For either the laparoscopic adjustable gastric band or the laparscopic sleeve gastrectomy, Dr. Domkowski's fee for the surgery will be due in full at the time of payment for surgery. We also offer Care Credit™ and My Medical Loan financing to those qualified applicants.
